Description
Ekdisten 100 tablets 5mg
Composition
Each Ekdisten 100 tablet contains 5mg of the active substance, Ekdisten, and several excipients, including lactose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, and starch.
Pharmacological Properties
Ekdisten is a novel medication, primarily used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It belongs to a class of medicines known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Ekdisten works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called angiotensin II, which is involved in regulating blood pressure. This action helps widen (dilate) blood vessels, which reduces blood pressure and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood.
Indications
Ekdisten 100 tablets 5mg are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. Treatment with Ekdisten can result in a reduced risk of stroke and heart attack.
Contraindications
Ekdisten is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the tablet. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential harm to the fetus or infant. Patients suffering from severe kidney or liver disorders should not take Ekdisten.
Precautions
Patients with renal artery stenosis, aortic or mitral valve stenosis, or obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy should use Ekdisten with caution. Consultation with a healthcare provider is recommended before starting treatment. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood electrolyte levels is advisable during long-term therapy.
Dosage and Administration
Adults should take one Ekdisten 100 tablet (5mg) once daily, with or without food. The dose may be adjusted by the healthcare provider based on the patient’s response to treatment. For patients with severe kidney or liver disorders, a lower starting dose is recommended.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Ekdisten include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and nausea. Less common side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, cough, and back pain. Rare side effects may include low blood pressure, kidney dysfunction, and changes in blood electrolyte levels. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Interactions
Ekdisten may interact with other medications, altering their effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. These include other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and certain heart medications. Always inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are currently taking before starting treatment with Ekdisten.
Overdose
In case of overdose, symptoms may include low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and dizziness. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
