Composition

Each ml of the Guttalax Picosulfate solution contains 7.5 mg of Sodium Picosulfate. It also includes supplementary ingredients such as purified water, sorbitol, and sodium hydroxide.

Description

Guttalax Picosulfate Drops is a colorless or slightly yellowish, clear solution. The product comes in a 15ml container with a dropper for easy administration.

Indication

This medication is indicated for the treatment of constipation and for preparation of diagnostic procedures, in pre- and postoperative treatment and in conditions which require defecation to be facilitated.

Dosage and Administration

The usual dose for adults and children over 10 years of age is 10-20 drops in the evening which corresponds to 5-10 mg sodium picosulfate. For children aged 4 to 10 years old, the usual dose is 5-10 drops in the evening.

Contraindications

Guttalax Picosulfate Drops should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity to sodium picosulfate or any of the other ingredients. It is also contraindicated in severe dehydration, ileus, intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal conditions including appendicitis, acute inflammatory bowel diseases, and severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting which may indicate severe conditions.

Precautions

Long term use of Guttalax Picosulfate Drops may lead to chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, hypokalemia, secondary hyperaldosteronism and kidney stones. Patients should seek medical advice if they need to take this product every day for more than one week.
