Description
Thioctacid Composition and Form of Release
Thioctacid Main active ingredient: thioctic acid.
Available in the form of tablets, each containing 600 mg of thioctic acid.
Pharmacological Properties
This product belongs to a group of medications used to normalize metabolic processes and treat liver diseases.
The main active ingredient is thioctic acid, a substance similar in quality to lipoic acid. Lipoic acid shares similar biochemical characteristics with B vitamins.
Thioctic acid functions as a coenzyme involved in the oxidation of decarboxylic and pyruvic alpha-keto acids. It plays a significant role in maintaining the body’s energy balance.
Furthermore, thioctic acid participates in regulating fat and carbohydrate metabolism, producing a lipotropic effect. It lowers blood sugar levels and increases insulin resistance.
It also affects cholesterol metabolism and helps improve liver function. Additionally, it acts as a detoxification agent, especially in cases of heavy metal or other toxic substance intoxication.
Thioctic acid has the following actions:
- Fights free radicals
- Protects blood vessel walls from cholesterol plaque formation
- Removes toxins and harmful substances from the body
- Enhances the effectiveness of vitamins C and E
- Normalizes blood glucose levels
During periods of high physical exertion, free radicals form in the body, negatively impacting cellular structure. Alpha lipoic acid neutralizes their effects, making it beneficial for athletes, bodybuilders, and cyclists. It also:
- Normalizes metabolic processes
- Provides cells with energy, enhancing training results
- Activates thermogenesis, leading to subcutaneous fat burning
Thioctacid Contraindications
This product is contraindicated for individuals with severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or auxiliary components. It is also contraindicated for patients with stomach or duodenal ulcers, convulsions (regardless of the cause), and should be used with caution in diabetes mellitus and hyperacid gastritis. It is not recommended for pediatric use.
Method of Administration and Dosage
Take orally with water. The recommended dosage is 1-3 tablets once a day, 30 minutes before meals. Long-term intake should not exceed 3 months consecutively.
Thioctacid Overdose
An overdose may lead to:
- Nausea, vomiting
- Headache
- Hypoglycemia
- Shock, hemolysis
When consumed with alcohol, severe intoxication can occur, possibly resulting in psychomotor agitation, convulsions, and lactic acidosis. If an overdose occurs, it’s recommended to perform gastric lavage, take enterosorbents, consider hospitalization, and treat symptoms as necessary.
Side Effects
In some cases, side effects may include:
- Changes and disruptions in taste sensations
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, heartburn
- Lowering blood sugar levels, leading to hypoglycemic conditions (dizziness, increased sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances)
- Allergic reactions such as skin rash, allergic urticaria, itching, shortness of breath
- Eczema
Storage Conditions and Shelf Life
Store in a cool place with a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Shelf life is 2 years.
