Description
Neurotropin vials 5%, 2 ml, #10 Solution
Composition
Each vial of Neurotropin 5% solution contains 5% of active ingredient Neurotropin, which is a non-protein extract from inflamed skin of rabbits that were inoculated with vaccinia virus. Each vial contains 2 ml of the solution.
Indications
Neurotropin is indicated for the treatment of various types of pain, including neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia, postherpetic neuralgia, lower back pain, cancer pain, and pain after surgery or injury. It is also used for the treatment of insomnia and anxiety associated with pain.
Pharmacological Properties
Neurotropin has a unique mechanism of action. It inhibits the transmission of pain signals in the spinal cord and brain, and also has a variety of other effects, including anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-stress effects. These combined actions contribute to its effectiveness in relieving pain and associated symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
The dosage of Neurotropin should be individualized according to the severity of pain and the patient’s response to treatment. The usual dose for adults is 1 to 2 vials per day, given intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The dose may be increased if necessary, but should not exceed 4 vials per day. Once the pain is controlled, the dose should be gradually reduced and eventually discontinued.
Contraindications
Neurotropin is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients. It should not be used in patients with severe renal impairment or in patients with a history of seizures. It should be used with caution in elderly patients and in patients with liver disease.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Neurotropin are mild and transient, and include redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and sleep disturbances. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, or if serious side effects occur, medical attention should be sought immediately.
Interactions
Neurotropin may interact with other medications, including those that affect the central nervous system. Therefore, it is important to inform the doctor of all medications being taken, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products.
Storage
Neurotropin vials should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. They should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
